Vidikron was established in Milan, Italy, in 1980 to answer the need for reliable, high-performance video projectors. It took eight years of research and development to perfect the styling and groundbreaking electronics that would become Vidikron's hallmark. In fact, Vidikron produced HDTV-ready projectors as far back as 1992.

For example, the CineWide™ system was developed especially for select Vidikron projectors. CineWide technology provides uncompromised widescreen reproduction of movies originally filmed in the CinemaScope™ 2.35:1 format. It maintains constant vertical height on the screen just as in a movie theatre.
CineWide technology has garnered numerous awards including the prestigious 2005 CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles® Manufacturer’s Excellence Award, Electronic House magazine’s 2005 Product of the Year Award, Residential Systems magazine’s Best 2005 Video Projector in the "RESI Award" competition, 2005 Best New Product award from Sound & Video Contractor magazine, as well as RAVE magazine’s 2005 Overall Most Creative New Product Award.

Vidikron’s new Vision™ Model 85 is the highest performance single-chip DLP™ 1920 x 1080 projector available and is the first of its kind to be awarded the prestigious THX® certification.
It incorporates a state-of-the-art light engine featuring a sophisticated colour balancing system and the industry’s best gray scale tracking. Vidikron’s exclusive V2 Aperture Control™ enables an ideal balance between black and white levels for each individual installation.
Vidikron’s exclusive, all-digital Imagix™ video processing is included in a separate outboard controller/processor for the most advanced video processing, 1080p scaling, and image quality available. With its Full HD 1080p panel, the Model 85 allows Blue Ray and HD-DVD Discs to be viewed at their highest possible resolution.
The Vision™ Model 85’s broad array of video inputs include HDMI™ connectivity, while custom-friendly RS-232, discrete input selection and discrete aspect ratio control with IntelliWide™ accommodate any automation system.
The projector’s precision optics system incorporates power zoom (accessible via remote control), power focus plus comprehensive electronic lens shift.
For the ultimate enjoyment of 2.35:1 super-wide movies, Vidikron’s award winning CineWide™, and CineWide™ with AutoScope™ technology options eliminate the usual black bars, allowing a 2.35:1 image to utilise the entire 16:9 panel, noticeably increasing perceived image clarity and precision.
